My only niggle is that the island group is the Keeling-Cocos Islands. They are known for pearls and copra.

The band identified it as 'Josh Slocum's Song'. I checked out the other Slocum threads, but they seem to focus on "Slocum and the Spray", a different song.

There's another thread or two on Slocum out here, I believe...I can't seem to get the search to work right, or I'd link to it/them. In fact, I'd be happy if someone would find them, so I can see them again! I drafted a couple of chanteys based on Slocum's experiences after reading Sailing Alone around the World, but I didn't know anyone else had a song about him...I'm interested in anything anyone can turn up.

About 15 years ago, I caught a live performance on a radio folk music show. The band (whose name I can't remember) did this song - I got the song on tape and have learned it, but have no idea who to credit it to during performance. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Am I missing any verse (seems likely)?
