Subject: LOOKING FOR PHOTOS of jams/singarounds From: WyoWoman Date: 14 Jun 02 - 03:35 PM Dear y'all, I'm working on a magazine story (for a fabulous magazine you all know and many of you love) about music-making as a community-building activity, along with either plans for a couple of instruments to make or a story about building instruments from kits (I haven't decided yet which direction to go on the sidebar). I need to find photos of people in jams and singarounds and wonder if any of you might have something we could use. We'd prefer photos from the U.S. or Canada, which is where the largest number of or readers live. But if you have something splendid and you live elsewhere, we'd be happy to take a look. We pay a little -- nothing much, but something -- and I promise to return the photos to you. PM me if you have something for us to consider. I can't promise that we'll use all we get, but I'd love to be able to include contributions from the Mudcateers. Thanks -- WyoWoman |

Subject: RE: Help: LOOKING FOR PHOTOS of jams/singarounds From: WyoWoman Date: 14 Jun 02 - 06:21 PM Thanks, I'll get in touch with her. Thanks also, Micca, for the PM and photos. Did you shoot those with a 35mm camera or with a digi-cam? If any of the photos are digital, they need to have been shot at a very high resolution to work in print -- at least 300 dpi, and higher is better. Keep 'em coming! And thanks -- ww |
Subject: RE: Help: LOOKING FOR PHOTOS of jams/singarounds From: Eric the Viking Date: 14 Jun 02 - 06:24 PM Is there nothing in the photo archive (events) from gatherings that's suitable, none of them are mine, but Micca, Noreen, Mooman,Alanww and others have put quite a lot in at various times. |

Subject: RE: Help: LOOKING FOR PHOTOS of jams/singarounds From: Jack the Sailor Date: 15 Jun 02 - 12:05 AM Check these out. Dr. Moreau is playing a hawiian guitar he built from scratch in one of the Seattle Pics. Steveo is playing a guitar he built from a Maritn kit in some of the southeast and Lousianna Pictures. On the Acoustic Guitar website we have built up a little community. We have made lasting friendships and sometimes travel great distances to play together. I also have some much higher quality B&W shots taken by a friend. If you are interested PM Me. Subject: RE: Help: LOOKING FOR PHOTOS of jams/singarounds From: Bat Goddess Date: 17 Jun 02 - 08:42 AM For the past several years the town of Nottingham, NH has had a folk music circle/jam in conjunction with its early morning Fourth of July celebration. It all takes place down at Demmon's Store (and West Nottingham post office). Breakfast, cooked on the grill, starts at 7 a.m. Around 8, we put chairs in a circle to the left of the gas pumps right next to the road and sing and play for about an hour for the enjoyment of all the town's folk gathered 'round. Promptly at 9 a.m. David Behm (singer, guitarist, O'Carolan expert) gets up on the long porch of the old country store and reads the Declaration of Independence in its entirety. There are photos from 2 years ago on the town's website and I have photos from last year. Please PM me for more info. Linn |
