Subject: Colleagues or Fans of Barbara Dane From: GUEST,David Shea (SPAIN) Date: 17 Jun 02 - 04:09 AM I am researching a biography on singer Barbara Dane and would be grateful for any information from fans or colleagues. Barbara was involved with Sing Out for many years. She wrote a column in the early 70s called Dare to Sing, Dare to Struggle which coincided with her founding of Paredon record label. The 50 Paredon titles have been reissued by Smithsonian Folkways. Thank you for any assistance, David Shea, Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. |

Subject: RE: Help: Colleagues or Fans of Barbara Dane From: Stringsinger Date: 06 Nov 11 - 05:38 PM Having worked with Barbara at the Ash Grove in the Sixties, she was always a consummate professional and I wish that I had the opportunity of doing a better job as her accompanist at the time. She was warm, easy to work with, always gracious and tolerant of my problems which were considerable at the time. I've always admired her as an artist and her politics matches my own views today. I think that she and Irwin were a good match and I miss his him and his writing. |
