Claire Lynch does this song. I heard her play and sing it with Jim Hurst at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs last month (August 2019). I think she played it G minor.

That would be Eileen Carson, now known as Eileen Carson Schatz.

The Fiddle Puppet Dancers changed their name to Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble in 1994.

Guest, according to the album notes, it was written by 'E. Carson', the leader of a 'percussive dance group, the Fiddle Puppets'. Tim O'Brien heard it at a songwriting workshop at Winterhawk Festival in Hillsdale, New York. The actual title is simply 'He Lifts Me'.
