Planning a trip for two to Scotland in August and wonder if any mudcatters out there could suggest things to see or do, music or other. We'll probably keep to the north-east-Grampian-area(Whisky trail after all!) but are open to change plans. Thanks in advance.

surf to Blackfriars music and do a search through into last year - there have been several threads on the subject.
But Blackfriars Music is the Oracle on Scotland.

Dunkeld, and Dougie MacLean's pub there. Don't miss it. Dunkeld's a nice town, too.

There's a good session every Sunday afternoon from about 2pm at the Oban Inn in Oban - they make visitors very welcome & there seems to be free beer for players! Don't forget your wellies!

Mickey Coyles - Monday night in Dundee, starts 9:30, also The fishermans in Broughty Ferry (Dundee) at 10pm on a Thursday night. Both good sessions although the Fishermans does tend to get noisy.

Saturday 3rd August is the Aboyne Highland Games one of the oldest in Scotland (and in Aberdeenshire, Grampian) Apart from all the games the piping and dancing competitions are of a really high international standard. Aboyne is beautiful - and I'll be there.

Thanks all for the tips. Hello Willie. Yes i am "PEI" frankie and I'm no longer with Tanglefoot. Got married, bought house, living in Niagara, blah,blah,blah... What I miss most about being in a travelling folk band is that all these details about where to stay and how to get places etc. were taken care of by someone else. I never realised how lazy I can be when it comes to actually taking care of arrangements of this sort. Where are you this summer Willie? Frankie

Getting married over the anvil? in Gretna? Do I really want to know what that's all about? Thanks Guest for the info about the Old Blind Dogs. There are one of my favourite Scottish groups.
