My old man's a cotton-picking finger-licking feather-flicking chicken plucker, whaddaya think about that? He wears a cotton-picking finger-licking feather-flicking chicken plucker's collar and he wears a cotton-picking finger-licking feather-flicking chicken plucker's hat, he wears a cotton-picking finger-licking feather-flicking chicken plucker's raincoat, he wears a cotton-picking finger-licking feather-flicking chicken plucker's shoes... and every Saturday evening he reads the Sunday news!

I heard it sung one time, by the co-owner with Brendan of the Scotia Bar, the same who it is rumoured wrote it. I wanted the song for my book One Singer One Song, but was refused.

Cheers

John-S: I don't think you've seen me at the Star. I don't even know where that is. I live in Minnesota, but I do make it to the UK for a month or so every 3-4 years.

The guy who wrote was called Sean Tierney.

Theres a CD of his songs avaible from The Scotia.

He penned a fair amount of the material Billy Connelly used in the early 70s.

The song was written by Sean Tierney to the tune of The Sash My Father Wore, however it was recorded on a tribute CD by friends of Sean Tierney after he died. The CD is available from the Scotia Bar, Stockwell Street, Glasgow. I have the CD and there are other parodies, where he has written Glasgow words to popular tunes.
