Lyrics are in the DT, put Jack in the Green in the white Digitrad and Forum Search. (I would link, but I can't get supersearch to open right now. There might be a MIDI there, I can't tell)

Hi Martin .... glad to meet you on Mudcat .... you should be telling people what wonderful songs you have written and how they could buy them all in a great songbook.

In case Martin is too modest, here are links:

Sabine Baring-Gould and the folk songs of South-West England
Martin Graebe (includes songbook details)

*Singing*

Have you seen The Jack-In-The-Green
With his long tail lahinging down
He quietly sits under every tree
In the folds of his velvet gown

Do a search using Martin's name &/or Jack in the green there's quite a bit. To his credit his song has been thought by many for some time (myself included) to have been trad. Malcom if he is to modest you where spot on in your post.
Martin, thanks for dropping in here, your song has caused some stir here & elsewhere, & all of it seems to have done you proud.
Barry

Thanks for the nice things said - it has been interesting to watch 'Jack' become 'traditional'! But there is nothing as queer as the folk process! Anyway, it WAS written a long time ago.

If I hadn't been jet-lagged after returning from California (Sun! Micky! Wine! Beer! - the last two of the Firestone variety! lovely! Oh, and I did attend a conference as well) I might have immodestly mentioned the song-book - I have just done another print run. Available from me for the likewise immodest sum of £7 + £1 postage UK (lets say £2 USA).

Enough of this commercial stuff - I am now awake at four in the morning and have ambitions not to be

Martin
