Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Molly (Biff Rose) From: Art Thieme Date: 10 Nov 08 - 10:27 PM I worked with Biff Rose in the 1970s (opened the show for him)---at the folk club called Charlotte's Web in Rockford, Illinois - USA. The place put us up in an old farm house quite a ways out of town. I remember a very cold night---below zero---driving back to that house with Biff after the gig. We had two flat tires that night. But I think we only had one spare tire. --- I can't remember what went down, but we did, eventually, get back there to sleep. He sang "Molly" at least once a night that week. Quite a poignant story to it I always have thought. It was the best song on that LP. Art Thieme |

I'm only familiar with the John Miller version and on both his LP and on the Denver site the composer is listed as simply Rose. Billy Rose, Vincent Rose ...? vl |

MOLLY
When I was a young man
Then I made the big time
I haven't saved a peony on my own
Ride a windy box car
I'm reading Molly's letter

Subject: Molly From: van lingle Date: 30 Jun 02 - 09:24 AM I think this song was written by Billy Rose, perhaps in the 20's or 30's. Also looking for the sheet music. I couldn't find any mention of it on Google. It starts out "When I was a young man, I ran away from home, I went to join the circus...". Any help greatly appreciated. vl |
