Subject: chords to the Greenfields of Canada

Have been haunted by the air of this song for some years and would love to try it on a guitar . It would take me ages to work it out the chords . I would greatly appreciate if some Mudcatter who has already come to this impasse would show me the way across the Rubicon i.e. send me the chords Thanks in advance

This is my adaptation of the lyrics and the way I recorded it on the Mudcat Plum CD.

I did it unaccompanied, though... if I take the time to figure out the chords I will post them, but I bet someone else will beat me to it.

Alice

I'm totally with you on this one. My favorite tune ever - if we're talking about the same one. There are several. At least two reels and a slow air (my favorite). Even the slow air, I've heard it played in G with the middle C's sharp or natural (my favorite). John Trillian has many of them in his index. Here's one (a reel) with chords...

Sorry, I'm a clickey moron. Go to trillian.mit.edu
The tune I'm calling my fav. is very close to the one played by Moloney, O'connel and Keane on their "Green Fields of America". From my experience, Green Fields of Canada tends to be almost identical, but with the middle C's sharped.

My favourite version is by Paul Brady which I heard once long ago on NPR's "Thistle & Shamrock" show. But I've never been able to find which album it was on.
