Well,I'm certainly not going to mention the "Irish Song-theft Conspiracy" thread that is currently running, and I hope nobody else does. As regards the tune, I'm sorry, I could happily sing it to you but I cant do computer stuff. Someone called Masato will be along in 2 or 3 minutes with what you want.

Let me be the first to come in here to point out that "Nobody's Child" is probably not an Irish song. I think it was an American country song probably covered by an Irish "showband" in the 60s.

I don't have the lyrics or an MP3 though. Sorry !

Can't find an mp3, but the song was written by Cy Coben and Mel Foree - I thought they were American, not Irish. It's been recorded by loads of artistes, including Lonnie Donegan, Hank Snow and many others.

I must admit I first heard this song from Lonnie Donegan, and though he was a Glaswegian Cockney he had an Irish surname. Gypsy song might be more accurate, this song is an amazing favourite among travelling people, in England at least. Can't speak for Hungarian cafe ensembles.

If you have Limewire or some file sharing program you can pick it up. Search Hank Snow. I have several versions I will try to send you one.

I have a recording of this by Hank Williams and the record label credits the writer as Williams. Record dates from the 1950's. Defintly not an Irish song
