Subject: RE: Folk Festivals or gatherings in the NW? From: Gloredhel Date: 28 Jul 02 - 05:03 PM I'm moving to Spokane (WA) next month. Anyone know about stuff happening in that area? |
Subject: RE: Folk Festivals or gatherings in the NW? From: Mudjack Date: 28 Jul 02 - 07:22 PM Saturday November 9th at the Glover Middle School in Spokane is the Spokane Folklore Society Festival. It is a free 1 day fest and lots of music but more importantly an opportunity to connect with other musicians and singers. Good hunting and if you cannot find any music circles, create some. From: rangeroger Date: 28 Jul 02 - 08:27 PM On Sept 20-22 is the Central Washington Bluegrass Festival and Dutch Oven Rendezvous at Grant County Fairgrounds in Moses Lake,Wash. Gloredhel, stay in touch with me.I live east of Couer d'Alene in the Silver Valley in North Idaho, only an hour drive to Spokane. I know there's an acoustic music group in the Cd'A area and there has to be more in the Spokane region. rr |

Subject: RE: Folk Festivals or gatherings in the NW? From: Miken Date: 31 Jul 02 - 09:09 PM I live in Edmonds, but visit in the Spokane area several times a year. Last Feb. I saw Rosalie Sorrels at the Mother Goose Progressive coffee house in Spokane. They have performances featuring local folkies fairly often. Check "The Planet" alternative weekly newspaper for listings. My next trip over will be in the fall, I think. Maybe we can meet up. Please P-Mail me if anything looks good about Nov. Gloredhel, hope you enjoy Spokane! I did when I lived there. Rangeroger, what is that acoustic music group in Couer d'Alene? I get over there occasionally, too. Mike |
Subject: RE: Folk Festivals or gatherings in the NW? From: rangeroger Date: 31 Jul 02 - 09:13 PM It was known as the Acoustic Music Society, but it has been a while since I've seen any fliers. Will check around and let you know. rr |
Subject: RE: Folk Festivals or gatherings in the NW? From: Gloredhel Date: 01 Aug 02 - 02:41 PM Lane, so far the only other thing I've found is a listing for a session on Tuesday nights at O'Doherty's Irish Grille. The site you mentioned was helpful. And yes, Amergin, I'm going to school there (Gonzaga University) as a music major. |
Subject: RE: Folk Festivals or gatherings in the NW? From: Amergin Date: 01 Aug 02 - 02:45 PM my uncle and his wife both went to Gonzaga....she's now a judge and he is now a public defender.... But anyways cool! Next time I go home...I may look ya up! |
Subject: RE: Folk Festivals or gatherings in the NW? From: Lane Date: 01 Aug 02 - 04:25 PM Let me know if you go to the Irish Grille. If it's a good show on Tuesday nights I'll take my Irish girlfriend there next time I visit! |
