Subject: RE: Help: Who sings 'xxxx'? From: Rt Revd Sir jOhn from Hull Date: 06 Jul 02 - 11:33 PM Sorry I can't help, but it reminds me of a couple of songs A good year for the roses-Elvis Costello & I don't want to talk about it-Rod Stewart/ Everything But the Girl |
Subject: RE: Help: Who sings "Let Me Down Easy & Slow" From: GUEST,Ms. Dos. Date: 07 Jul 02 - 03:24 AM Sorry I messed up the title the first time around...I thought I was being asked to create a new discussion (in general) not just post my question. Hmmm...John from Hull (Mass., I take it? I'm from JP originally)...this was a male/female duet, I heard and taped it from an NPR show a million years ago, ran across it and want to track down the album. I've thought of Robin & Linda Williams (the male sounds a lot like him), Richard & Linda Thompson and Clive Gregson and Christine Collister. It's a bit twangy, like a smooth bluegrass or more sophisticated "folk" song. Well, got my fingers crossed! Thanks for trying to help (and reminding me of some other good tunes! |

Subject: RE: Help: Who sings 'Let Me Down Easy & Slow'? From: Noreen Date: 07 Jul 02 - 09:59 AM Nothing with that title, or opening phrase, on Google, sorry. Lots of hits for Let me down easy though- several different songs, including the lovely one by Ralph McTell. |
Subject: RE: Help: Who sings 'xxxx'('Let Me Down Easy & Slow'?) From: Dan Schatz Date: 07 Jul 02 - 07:02 PM Like many good songs, this one is by Si Kahn. It may have been recorded by others, but it can be found on Si's 1984 record, "Unfinished Portraits." The title is "Easy and Slow," not to be confused with the bawdy song of the same title. My favorite verse is: "Part of my spirit goes traveling with you To see that you're never alone Part of your spirit stays right here with me And watches me till you come home...." It's a very good song, which I've loved for many a year. Dan Schatz |
Subject: RE: Help: Who sings 'xxxx'('Let Me Down Easy & Slow'?) From: GUEST Date: 16 Feb 11 - 06:15 PM I have been trying to find who sings this song as well. The young woman who sings the song was being interviewed on NPR I believe saturday Feb 12th. I think it was an evening show because I was on my way home from work. |

Subject: RE: Help: Who sings 'xxxx'('Let Me Down Easy & Slow'?) From: GUEST,Gerry Date: 16 Feb 11 - 11:41 PM Dan was absolutely right, it's Si Kahn all the way. See http://www.sikahn.com/albums/unfinishedportraits.shtml |
Subject: RE: Help: Who sings 'xxxx'('Let Me Down Easy & Slow'?) From: Dennis the Elder Date: 17 Feb 11 - 01:07 AM Becky in Tucson. You are most certainly right. I have just been listening to the Ralph McTell song "Let Me Down Easy" and The words let me down slow appear in the second line of the chorus, not the first. Thought I knew what I was talking about, but obviously I did not! Sorry for any confusion. Must be my age, Dennis the forgetful |
Subject: RE: Help: Who sings 'xxxx'('Let Me Down Easy & Slow'?) From: Desert Dancer Date: 17 Feb 11 - 11:47 AM It is a well-used phrase... |
