Hey gang!! Put your cyber-hands together for Deda's boy Adam, a mean guitar plucker in his own right who earns his pocket money singing in Irish bars around the city of Rennes in Britanny. We just spent a whole weekend with him and Deda in Boulder and I can tell ya he's one hell of a folkie!!

He'll be on the threads from time to time under the handle Bull Am.

Well, welcome aboard, Bull!! An appropriate handlle-- even if Fats said it first!! We're really glad to have you here; make yourself at home, watch out for Spaw, dont feed the trolls, and have a blast.

Regards,

Uncle A

Sorcha, Amos did tell us, in a thread he started two or three days ago, didn't ya, Amos? (Did you go see Kat while ya wuz in Colorado? I guess she's on t'uther side of them Rockies, though.)

I confess that I monopolized Amos' time while he was here -- which was very short, so I outrank the rest of the 'cat in terms of claims to see him. Bull Am and Amos and I pretty much sang for three days -- they were very kind to let me hum along. It was wunnerful, wunnerful. And I'm very tickled that my boy has checked in here, too. He's extremely knowledgeable about all kinds of things -- but I'll let him tell his own story. (C'm on, Ma, sit on it, will ya!)

Greetings All I feel as if my familial connections have already established a cyber niche for me here, and I'm looking forward to the musical erudition and sophistication I will gain from all of you fellow mudcatters. Thank you all for the warm welcome, and I hope that I'll be able to contribute to the impressive pool of folklore...This is a great way to maintain the vitality of timeless music, and I applaud all of your contributions. Fats Waller used the phrase "Bull Am" to express excitement and enthusiasm, so I figure that it's a fitting handle for my entrance into the world of mudcat. BULL AM

That's a nice intro. from your Uncle Amos. Hope you can be as much of a contributor as he is and take as much pleasure from it as we all do.

Bull Am? Right then............Just the kind of wackiness I'd expect out of Amos' nephew and Deda's kid. Let me explain that although I welcome you here, the fact that you are related to those two does not stand you in good stead. That kind of thing is quite important if you're the type who hangs out in steads. It's never meant much to me 'cause I ain't got a clue as to what a "stead" is and whether there's any benefit coming from standing in one. I mean is it one of those "power of the pyramid" deals or what? Can you finance a stead?

Anyway, try to act like someone with at least a quarter of a brain, which most do here....except for nutcases like your uncle who has spent far too much time in the land of fruits and nuts. Welcome to the 'Cat anyway.......

and is expecting "erudition and sophistication"? ! ? ! ? !

Him don't know us very well, do he? (as Tweety would say)

welcome to Bedlam - Hope you've made your reservations at the NYCFTTS

Ain't that the truth Mario!!! Dr. Cajones can get the lad into treatment right away, although I must say it's never had much effect on Amos. Amos has written 7800 posts here, most running about the same length as "War and Peace" and in the lot of them I've understood about 3 things he had to say........As I recall, all three of those related to the fact that he's sexually impotent and plagued with worse flatulence that Paw or Cletus. At least I think that's what he was talking about.......maybe it was a veiled reference to pistachio ice cream couched in advanced Californian.

Now that you've been through Spaw's Initiation for the Unsuspecting, grab a broom and help me clean up the kitty litter he kicked up, will you? Consider it another Rite of Passage! Oh, and...forget anything your uncle ever told you, esp. about any of us. Welcome to the Mudcat.

Sorry to have missed your "handle story" when I posted that query about it. You can't ask for a better muse than Fats Waller, I think.

Thanks from his Mum. He's out on a camping trip but should be back in a day or so and will get a HUGE kick out of all this, I dare say.

I would say that knowing when, whether and how to stand in good stead is about two classes past knowing enough to come in out of the rain.

That should be clear as mud, and it covers the ground.

Cestic Soul, you don't seem to get it......He's "Bull Am," not Jake. Fer chrissakes didn't you read the thread title?

And Deda, .....Darlin, I miss the rain reference entirely unless you are somehow implying that a stead has roof. Or is that some subtle way of telling us what's wrong with Amos? I mean like I've known guys like him who are outstanding in their field and along comes a storm, thunder and lightning hit the field, and ....ZAP!!!.........struck by lightning since they were the tallest thing in the field. Was Amos once (or possibly on numerous occasions) struck by lightning and it fried what little mind he had? Wouldn't surprise me as the cat is several neurons shy of a synapse. This is why I figure a stead must have a roof and if Amos had been in a good stead his IQ would be bigger than his hat size.

Coming back from a rigorous camping trip in the Colorado sand dunes (I'm still finding sand particles in my ears and nose), it's fabulous to find so many welcomes awaiting me on my return... I feel so at home in this land of 'fruits and nuts'!

Spaw:

It's pretty sad, after your long weeks off trolling in other parts of cyberspace in search of more interesting pictures of body parts... that you return only to offer foul calumny and approbation to my own kin!! I think you've been away too long, lost your touch, and need to get back in touch with the real spirit of the 'Cat. As a penance, I expect you to reread all 17, 312 of your own posts to the Cat since the first one in December 1998, with an eye to re-acquiring your once-eloquent style.

Hope to hear from you soon!

A
