I have a recording of a tune I was told is called Wanna be Sailors, by a band called Kinship. I am trying to find what album it is from, or any reference to it for that matter. I do a Google search for lyrics from the song and get notthing! The 'sailors "live in the highlands, surrounded by mountains, we carry the spirit, but we don't have a boat, and if we did who would be captain, and if we did where would we go?..... (and) we'll dance with the lasses who'll come by the masses, if we never reveal that we dont have a boat ...etc"

Funny tune, I just cant figure out where it comes from, and so who do I turn to the catters, ring any bells?

Nick wanna be lots of things!

Sounds like a companion piece to Micca's "The Shanty Man Who's Never Been To Sea".

I've known those kids (all grown up now) since they were very young.
Their father is one of my best friends.

I NEED TO BUY THEIR CD!!! Have been searching for years... the website only has the option to purchase their 3rd release album which I'm not a huge fan of...

Does anyone know where the first two albums can be purchased?

Thanks in Advance!!!

I'm a huge Celtic music fan and would really love to add this to my collection!!!!!!!!

Ha. Not only does their website only give the option of the third CD, when you follow that link, it is listed as unavailable! So all their CDs seem to be unavailable.

Jim Lad, since you're such a close friend, why don't you look into this and let us know why an interested person can't acquire ANY of their CDs?

The Kinship is a band from Kelowna, BC. The hughes brothers are the primarly founding members with two friends. I went to school with hughes' and have been to many a kinship gig.. Its a great band with a good sound.

They CDS are titled:
1)First Born
2)Next Of Kin
3)Bone Shaker

Wanna Be Sailors is on the album 'Kinship - First born' . An excellent ensemble of jaunty celtic tunes! It is a little hard to find but .... if your in Kelowna BC Canada, go to the hospital to the rehab unit and find Mrs. Hughes the social worker ... if she still works there she is the boys Mum!

I have this CD. I don't have any idea how to get it to any of you. I would be willing to do so if any of you have ideas that don't entail me breaking copyright laws and going to jail. :0)

It may be that this thread is too old and most of you have lost interest.... but if no, post your ideas and email on here and I will check back periodically.
Thanks.
