Subject: Words to Frosty Morn Jingle
From: Bee-dubya-ell

We were playing the fiddle tune "Cold Frosty Morn" at a recent session and, for some reason, I was reminded of a totally unrelated old telvision commercial jingle for Frosty Morn meats from back in the sixties. In said commercial, a chorus line of cartoon piggies do a can-can and sing the jingle while the lyrics stream across the bottom of the screen accompanied by a bouncing ball a la Mitch Miller so that the audience at home can sing along. Got it? I think one of the programs they sponsored was the Porter Waggoner show or another of those Saturday afternoon country music things that were around back then.

I can remember parts of the lyrics, ie:

The height of a piggie's ambition
From the day he is born
Is just that he'll be good enough
To be a Frosty Morn

So....everybody sing
Frosty Morn, Frosty Morn.....

I have not seen Frosty Morn products in area stores for years, but they are apparently still in business. A Google search found lots of references to recalls of their products due to Listeria contamination, but no web page for the company. Wonder why???

Bruce

Now you're dating yourself. My daughters couldn't believe that such a song existed.

The height of a piggie's ambition
From the day he is born

To be a Frosty Morn

Sing it over and over and over again

Oh Yes,
A couple of friends of mine didn't believe me when I told them about the jingle. But I remember it very well:

Sing it over and over and over again .. Frosty Morn
Sing it over and over and over again ... Frosty morn
The height of a piggie's ambition from the day he is born
Is the hope that he will be good enough to be a frosty morn
and everybody join in ... aaaand,
Sing it over and over and over again .. Frosty Morn
Sing it over and over and over again .. Frosty Morn!

I can still see and hear it in my head just as if I were still a little kid

I have been searching for that song for years!!! I am glad others have been too. I thought I was the only one who remembered. I would hear it on the radio back in 1978 in Wilmington, North Carolina and the lyrics I remembered went like this:

Every little pig
When he grows up big
Likes to be a Frosty Morn.
When you do your best,
And you're better than the rest,
You'll be a Frosty Morn.
Frosty Morn, Frosty Morn, Frosty Morn,
You're very good. You are the best,
And you're better than the rest.
You are a Frosty Morn.

THERE! I finally am one step closer to finding a copy of that song before I do a remake of that jingle myself. Of course I have to find some pigs that sound like the chipmunks first. Anyone know where to find that song?

Thank you for your time.

Funny-Not sure how I arrived at this site. I made breakfast for my family this morning and of course bacon was on the menu. I started singing the old Frosty Morn jingle from my childhood. I remember the commercials well. My wife who is 7 years my junior had never heard the jingle. I began looking for the commercial on Youtube. No success yet. Hope someone finds it.

I remember the jingle from my childhood in Defuniak Springs Fl. Our local TV station at the time was out of Dothan Al. As I remember from the mid 60's it went like this.

The height of a piggie's ambition
From the day he is born
Is hope that he'll be good enough
To be a Frosty Morn

Sing it over and over and over again Frosty Morn

Sing it over and over and over again Frosty Morn.

I remember the commercial too.

We lived in North Florida, near the Frosty Morn plant in Quincy.

As I remember the black & white TV commercial was an animated drawing of 3 or 4 dancing pigs and a scrolling lyric line with a bouncing ball that encouraged you to sing along.

Bruce, on the Frosty Morn products, Family Brands, Lenior City, Tn., now produced it.They can be found at Food Lion stores. People today still remember that commercial, it really boosted sales and won many awards. The family that started Frosty Morn began in the meat industry in the 1800's in St.Louis then moved to Nashville.A plant of theirs is located on the river just north of downtown Nasville in the Germantown area. An historic area, 6th Ave. N area, with lots of shops and renovated older homes. The family that owns it actually live in a renovated office building at the plant. Also has another building that's been remolded for reception meetings, also has a historic room, it has wood floors, sits on a hill and looks over the Nashville skyline. If in Nashville, you might want to check it out.

[O]ne of their commercials had a sign that said 'Frosty Morn for President.'

The song for that one went

Our candidate has requested
We read this note he sent:
'I'd rather be a Frosty Morn

Yes, I remember the jingle word for word! I am 53 years old and that was my favorite jingle as a child. There was a pig conducting a chorus of pigs that sang the song. DO they even make that bacon anymore? I am a vegetarian now, but I would have to take a little nibble on something reminiscent of being 3 years old again.

So... everybody join in and

Sing it over and over and over again, Frosty Morn. Sing it over and you'll sing it over again, Frosty Morn.

Sure miss those "little dancing piggies"!

The commercial was in heavy rotation on TV all over middle TN and my sister was encouraged to sing along once. She got such a response that she'd sing AND dance (can-cam style) with the piggies everytime they appeared.

Besides Frosty Morn ... another one: Odum's Family Tennessee Pride sausage also had animated commercials with cartoon characters singing jingles.

I am 60, still live in Jackson, TN., and saw the cute little piggies when I was a child. Loved that jingle abt 'sing it over and over and over again, Frost Morn.' The other jingle was the one Reelfoot bacon had out about..."Real real real real good Reelfoot" I think they used a cartoon Indian boy to beat on a tom tom, and would say something like..beat on drum , beat out for Reelfoot.
Sorry, the old memory just not what it used to be!

The Frosty Morn factory at Clarksville, Tennessee, has sat abandoned for more than thirty years.
Elm Hill Meats took over the name, and Frosty Morn bologna, sausage and weiners are still sold by Hills Foodland in Pleasant Grove, Alabama and other stores in the South.

Jimmy Dean sausage is better! Unfortunately not available in Canada.

I was just telling my grandchildren that the only time I didn't get in trouble for getting out of bed when I was suppose to be asleep was when the Frosty Morn jingle came on. Frosty Morn was a sponsor of the 10:00 p.m. news in Nashville, TN. I was about 3 years old so this would have been around 1955. I waited until the commercial came on, ran down the hall to our living room and sang and danced with the pigs and then ran back and jumped into bed. I never once got into trouble because my Mom and Dad were always waiting for it to happen and then laughing so hard. I was trying to find the actual commercial for them to see. Would love to have it if anyone finds it. Jeanice Ladd Walters Jeanice.Walters@gmail.com

Sorry… We get at least one inquiry a month about this Jingle. However, we bought the Frosty Morn Brand long after this commercial was gone. We have tried to find it, but have had no luck to this point. Again , thanks for the inquiry and sorry we couldn't help.

I heard this tune on the radio this morning, used in a carol by
English composer John Rutter. I don't know who was first, Rutter (born in 1945) or the Frosty Morn ad agency's composer. Or, maybe it comes from an old folk melody. But it is uncanny, the similarity with the tune of the verse ("The height of a piggie's ambition.....")

And of course, Rutter lived in England, so may never have heard the Frosty Morn jingle

I'm 58 and living in Los Angeles now, but I grew up in Alabama and those "Frosty Morn Sausage" commercials and jingles will be forever burned into my brain.

WBRC-TV out of Birmingham was our station of choice (because their signal was clearer than competetitor WAPI-TV's) and WBRC produced a live/local country and western music show from their studios every morning called the "Country Boy Eddie" show. In addition to sponsors like "Big-Hearted Eddie's Used Cars", "Frosty Morn Sausage" was a regular advertiser. I can still hear those animated piggies singing in their sped-up, "Alvin and the Chipmunks" voices.

In case the meaning of the "Frosty Morn" is lost on readers, farmers would traditionally wait until a cold, frosty, winter morning before, ahem, "demising" the pigs. The cold weather would help preserve the meat during the process.

Gotta go have a big ole country breakfast of coffee, eggs, grits, biscuits and "Frosty Morn" sausage now. Sorry piggies.

Will it be a piano number? A recorder solo? A session tune? Time will tell.

This is the verse that I remember, a little different from the other posts:
The height of a piggy's ambition,
from the day he was born,
in hopes that he would be good enough,
to be a Frosty Morn!

Maybe it's incorrect, but it's burned into my 49 y.o. memory as such. I certainly remember the tune and can play it on the piano! The tune is similar to the old Gospel hymn, "Wonderful words of life"...

I always thought the Frosty Morn jingle and melody were unusually good for a commercial. The song still rings in my head from time to time. I'm not surprised this post has attracted a lot of other "fans". I'd love to get an MP3 of it.

When I was a very young child (2 - 3), this commercial was all over television in Tennessee. My Mom told me I used to run to the tv set from wherever I was (including outside--we had no air conditioner at our farmhouse) and just stand there watching the piggies sing. You see, I had two pet pigs, Sammy Kaye and Mojo. I was fascinated by the ones that sang. At one point. I probably asked my Mom and Dad why my pets couldn't sing a well! Thanks for the memories!!
