Actually it's called THE LAARGE DAARK AARDVARK SONG. According to ASCAP.com, it was written by Allan Sherman and Cy Coleman. It's on the albums "My Name is Allan" (1965) and "My Son, the Box" (2005).

I doubt that Sherman and Coleman actually collaborated. More likely, Sherman was parodying a song that Coleman wrote.

I listened to a sound sample at Allmusic.com, and I don't recognize the tune. Maybe someone more familiar with Coleman's work would recognize it. ASCAP lists 546 songs that Coleman wrote or co-wrote.

I love this and wish I could share it with my Dad; we had a thing about aardvarks and at Christmas time made up lots of aardvark carols.
Aardvark herald angels sing was too easy.
There is to this day a plaque hanging in my bathroom. I don't remember if he gave it to me or I gave it to him and it wound up here after he died. It says, "Don't vark too aard."
