Subject: Peters and Lee From: John-S Date: 14 Jul 02 - 06:34 PM A few years ago, someone told me an allegedly true story about Peters and Lee and a Scottish folksinger. For those, who don't know them, Lenny Peters and Diane Lee were a singing duo who won a TV talent show and went on to fame and fortune. Lenny, who was blind, was apparently a really friendly guy who was very popular and got on with everyone. Diane was very starry and thought she was a cut above the rest. This Scottish folksinger happened to be staying at the same hotel as them. On his last morning there, he went over and sat down and said to Lenny, "You should get rid of her and get yourself a guide dog and call yourself 'Peters and Rover.' I think Tam Harvey may have been the folksinger. Does anyone know for sure? |

Subject: RE: Peters and Lee From: C-flat Date: 15 Jul 02 - 11:04 AM A friend of mine used to be a regular singer on a Manchester radio station in the sixties and seventies. One day, there was a particular buzz around the studio because Jose Feliciano was guesting and had agreed to do a live spot. Mr. Feliciano was accompianied by an elderly lady and was charming and agreeable throughout. After a blistering performance my friend approached and, after a complimentary exchange, asked how he enjoyed touring. "I love to tour, but I miss not being able to bring my (guide)dog because of the quarantine restrictions" explained Mr. Feliciano. My friend followed up;"Still, it's nice that your Mother is travelling with you" To which Mr. Feliciano replied " Hey man! that's not my Mother, that's my WIFE!" I'm sure that the heat from my friends' blushes were felt by Mr. Feliciano even if he couldn't see them. Needless to say, he didn't bother asking for tickets to that evenings concert! |
