Subject: Sheesh... From: Celtic Soul Date: 14 Jul 02 - 06:48 PM OK. So, I pitched the idea for my band to do "A Clean Song". Yeah, they liked the idea, but because another group who used to play some of the same venues as we do did this one years ago, I was asked "is there another tune we could sing it to?" Hell, I have no idea. Nothing springs to mind in any case. Anyone out there know if another folkie sort of tune that would fit this song? Oh, and while we're at it. I found some lyrics. Great lyrics, but the song they were originally written to would not work. So, I did some research on this one and found that "Essequibo River" fit perfectly. *BUT*, before I had a chance to pitch the idea, someone else said "I wanna learn Essequibo River for this season". Shite. Someone just shoot me in the head, please. In any case, any thoughts on *another* tune that might fit the meter of "Essequibo River"? Making my life hell they are. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Sheesh... From: Jeri Date: 14 Jul 02 - 07:39 PM Quite a few sea shanties - "Haul on the Bowline" is one. It's in 4/4, right? Loads of fiddle tunes (reels) could be adapted and people might not instantly recognize the tune. I could do better with the lyrics. It really helps to know how and where the syllables would fall in the melody. |
