Yeah it all went funny and then...wow.another human being. happened for a whole day a while ago. Thought the world had ended. It's OK, humanlife will reappear from holes in the ground, they always do.

Is it over?
Can I come out now?
Everything went off for a while back there and thought I'd better get to the bunker.

Still cant get at my personal messages. But the birds are singing again. And through the grey ash tiny green shoots are peeping.

Is this the Western Front?

Totally off the subject: katlaughing, my daughter took me to the piece of land in California where All Quiet on the Western Front was filmed. Not very big. Illusion is a wondrous thing.

YAHOOOO!!!!!!!! Is that better? I haven't had any trouble getting on to Mudcat, if that's what you're referring to. Like everyone else, I find days when I check out Mudcat and there's absolutely nothing I feel like adding to. Somehow, I can't get myself worked up about a Shatner thread. The threads that draw me in are ones that are a conversation, rather than a long list of us talking about ourselves, with no interplay. I get bored of myself real quickly...:-)

Yep, Jerry. I am the same way. I look for the interesting stuff. The level of technical music expertise has gotten so good that by the time that I get to the music threads they are usually answered. I end up reading them in minute detail, and committing to memory as much of the lore and background as possible, so as to appear brilliant to the poor musico's out there that don't use this resource.................hahahahaha. Or cursing that that doggone Masato is so fast, or I am slowing down so much, that I can't beat them to the punch..............LOL. Gives me something to look forward to as I progress along the path of aging.

Have you noticed that, for the most part, the conversations are getting better? It seems we are coming out of the tunnel that we have been in. The wheel always turns, and it always has here.

BTW, I sang "Handful of Songs" at one of the Toronto sessions at Paul Mills home. They absolutely loved it, and I felt proud that I could do justice to that wonderful piece of your work.

All the best,

Mick

Anyone hear the piece this morning on NPR and the re-release of the Harry Smith records on Folkways? It is the fiftieth anniversary of the first release. You can listen to the interview and some of the songs right here. I think I'll put this on a thread of its own, too.

Ebbie, interesting stuff...that illusion and all. I watched a program on the people who paint movie scenes on glass, can't remember their official title, but it was absolutely fascinating to watch them create whole villages, etc.

Almost lunchtime, ya'll....:-)

"It seems we are coming out of the tunnel that we have been in." So long as it's not an oncoming train.

I like the conversations best. Especially when music and songs weave in and out, using a son to make a point and so on. Or when the songs lead in to civil exchanges about the stuff the songs are about.

The times when the Mudcat is down are just part of the way it is, it helps us appreciate it, and I'd be rather sorry if we never had them.

One unusual thing right now is that the Help page isn't accessible, even though the forum is.

Typical! Finally pull a shift where I can check in during daylight hours, and you've all done a runner.

I thought it was our system - it's got some pretty complicated blocks in it, but it seems it wasn't my fault for a change. It coinicided with an upgrade, I thought I'd nuked you all.

Glad I didn't. Even in daylight it gets kinda lonely down here after 4.00pm.

And when the big bang has happened, and there's nobody left but you, just sit down and play patience (or solitaire, Yanks).

Within five minutes somebody will be there to tell you "The red five goes on the black six."
