Subject: HELP: Shroedinger's Wave Equation: meaning? From: greg stephens Date: 18 Jul 02 - 08:23 AM Masato Sakurai, in the current thread dedicated to his praise, claims to know no physics. Don't believe a word of it, he knows everything. Thought I would post this query to see how long it takes him to arrive and answer it. |

Subject: RE: HELP: Shroedinger's Wave Equation? From: An Pluiméir Ceolmhar Date: 18 Jul 02 - 08:45 AM Isn't that the bit of graffiti that Schrödinger scrawled on one of the bridges of the Grand Canal in Dublin? And if so, doesn't that mean that the equation is part of Irish folk culture? ( ;o) , BTW) |

Subject: RE: HELP: Shroedinger's Wave Equation? From: greg stephens Date: 18 Jul 02 - 09:08 AM Bit hard going that MMario, that is a discussion of a particular case (electron in atomic orbital) and how the wave equation can solve problems of allowable energy levels. i think we need something a bit more general and basic. I wonder what line Masato will take on Bohr's problems with Schrodinger's equation (not to mention Einstein's). Bohr spent a lot of fruitless eneryg trying to look at quantisation as something connected with resonance between radiation and electronic orbital movement, more "classically" understandable than Schrodinger's rather shocking and arbtrary solution. I have a feeling Masato may develop those ideas a little further and perhaps more successfully.. |
