Best version I've heard was from Pete Shepheard of Spring tyme Music, 'though I don't think he's ever recorded it. This version had a different tune and a repeat line at the end of each verse. cheers

It has been recorded by - among others - Gordeanna McCulloch (1973 - recently reissued on CD), Rod Paterson (1987) and Ian Bruce (1998).

Re Duplicate Thread.

I haven't heard the Spinners version but it is probably no better than Isabel Sutherland's wonderful singing of a great song.

It's in Norman Buchan, 101 Scottish Songs (Collins, 1962, pp. 64-65, with music).

This is a duplicate thread, I found after I posted: see Lyrics required.

If you type bleacher in the DigiTrad Lyrics Search box, you'll find 2 versions in the DT.

Or if you type Bleacher in the Filter box and set the Age to 3 years you'll find a thread which also has a set of words and another with link to a tune (didn't check if the link still works).

(Curiously - I checked first in my offline copy of the Fall99 DT and found the 2 copies, but searching for bleacher in the Forum And DT Search box or selecting titles starting with letter B failed to bring these up!?)

If you type "bleacher" (without the quote marks) into The Digitrad & Forum Search Box at the top of the Forum, it will bring up two versions in the DT, plus numerous threads which may or may not be related to the song.
