Subject: Dolly Parton and From: J. de Lasala Spain Date: 10 May 98 - 02:31 PM Once I heard a nice pretty song sung by Dolly Parton during a country festival held one night at some US Air Forces base in Spain and I keep a take on tape from the eighties, but very noisy. Some weeks ago I could hear the same song when Kim Basinger tried to imitate to Dolly Parton at the NBC Jay Leno's tonight show.On both occasions the word "Butterfly" was several times mentioned and I couldn't retained further lyrics about it.Some guy there could tell me the real name of such song and perhaps write down the full lyrics? It should great for me! Thanks so much

Subject: RE: Dolly Parton and "...butterfly.." song? From: Once Famous Date: 18 May 05 - 12:15 PM Years ago Dolly had a syndicated half hour TV show. I want to say it was around '74-74 and this song was the theme song for the show. I distinctly remember the sponsor of the show was "Breeze" laundry detergent. What I best remember and wish I could see again, was two distinctive shows that had guests Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstedt on. They sang together for most of the show pulling off unbelievable harmonies and was pure magic which led to them recording as the "Trio." |

Subject: RE: Dolly Parton and "...butterfly.." song? From: GUEST Date: 18 May 05 - 03:36 PM The theme tune was sung by Claire Terry - maybe better known for the vocals on Pink Floyd's The Great Gig in The Sky. Retain that bit of info for a pub quiz. Might win you a pint one day! |

Subject: RE: Dolly Parton and "...butterfly.." song? From: Rumncoke Date: 19 May 05 - 02:13 PM I found the Dolly Parton version less attractive than the sitcom theme, which is rather wistful and more in keeping with the words - in my opinion. The Dolly Parton version is so different that I had to hear it a couple of times to realise it was actually the same song. Anne |
Subject: RE: Dolly Parton and "...butterfly.." song? From: TheBigPinkLad Date: 19 May 05 - 02:18 PM I agree Anne. Also I was in love with Wendy Craig. |
