Once I heard a nice pretty song sung by Dolly Parton during a country festival held one night at some US Air Forces base in Spain and I keep a take on tape from the eighties, but very noisy. Some weeks ago I could hear the same song when Kim Basinger tried to imitate to Dolly Parton at the NBC Jay Leno's tonight show.On both occasions the word "Butterfly" was several times mentioned and I couldn't retained further lyrics about it.Some guy there could tell me the real name of such song and perhaps write down the full lyrics? It should great for me! Thanks so much

Is this what you're looking for?

Love is like a butterfly

Chorus:
Love's like a butterfly as soft and gentle as a sigh
Multicolored moods of love is like it's satin wings
Love makes you heart feel strange inside
It flutters like soft wings in flight
Love is like a butterfly a rare and gentle thing

I feel it when you're with me,It happens when you kiss me
That rare and gentle feeling that I feel inside
It's touch is soft and gentle, It's kiss is warm and tender
Whenever I am with you I think of butterflies

Your laughter brings me sunshine, Everyday is springtime
And I am only happy when you are by my side
How precious is this love we share
How very precious, sweet and rare
Together we belong like daffodils and butterflies

repeat chorus and add ending

Really great song! good to see the full version, I only ever knew the first verus. In the seventies in England there was a sitcom called butterflies, of which this song was the theme tune. Nigel.

Years ago Dolly had a syndicated half hour TV show. I want to say it was around '74-74 and this song was the theme song for the show. I distinctly remember the sponsor of the show was "Breeze" laundry detergent.

What I best remember and wish I could see again, was two distinctive shows that had guests Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstedt on. They sang together for most of the show pulling off unbelievable harmonies and was pure magic which led to them recording as the "Trio."

I THINK the theme for the sitcom was sung by Dolly Parton.

Definately wasn't Dolly. I'm thinking it was that lass from Pentangle ... Jacqui McShee, was it?

The theme tune was sung by Claire Terry - maybe better known for the vocals on Pink Floyd's The Great Gig in The Sky. Retain that bit of info for a pub quiz. Might win you a pint one day!

Wow! what a single.
Those are easily 3 of her best. All 3 are my missus' favourite.

So which one was the hit?

All three were hits I believe or could be on a "best of" compilation.

doesn't anyone else remember her syndicated TV show brought to you by Breeze detergent? Am I one of the only true country music scholars here?

Don't remember it, Martin, but sure would love to have seen the episode you mention. Those three were meant to sing together.

I found the Dolly Parton version less attractive than the sitcom theme, which is rather wistful and more in keeping with the words - in my opinion.

The Dolly Parton version is so different that I had to hear it a couple of times to realise it was actually the same song.

The Butterflies theme music is an old Dolly Parton number titled Love Is Like A Butterfly.

It was recorded specially for the series by Clare Torry, with a band conducted by the legendary British TV composer Ronnie Hazlehurst.
