The death has been announced of the singer Marion Montgomery who had been suffering from cancer for some time. Born in 1934 in Mississippi, she appeared on television while still a schoolgirl. She gradually built her career appearing in a variety of venues. She moved to Britain in 1965 and married musician Laurie Holloway. She worked in musicals, cabaret and was a regular performer on the Michael Parkinson television show. She is survived by her husband and daughter.
