G'day MMario,

You do raise the point I forgot about in replying to our GUEST Christopher: There is software that turns all those letters and numbers back into "real music" ... (fly specks and hen scratches, I think Pete Seeger once called them). From there you can also get the computer to play them back for you ... so you can get to hear them ... if you are an "ear-player.

All of this was a distant dream of mine when I first struggled with muscal notation ... but I eventually learned enough of the language to be able to sight-read most folk tunes ... and even do my own transcriptions of tunes ... but I do know that did not come overnight - and thse computer 'codes' for music can be a great help.

Regards,

Bob Bolton

G'day Christopher,

What MMario gave you in the first posting is "ABC" ... a letter-based musical notation, which is very handy to send as a textstring in an e-mail. It can be translated back into "real" dots and scratches ... and some people actually like to read it as it comes.

Anyway, in the next posting he has "linked" to a site with the tune in both formats, so you can save the image of the dots and play from that.

Regards,

Bob Bolton (Prefers dots & scratches, personally!)

This goes out to any and evryone who has ever or has yet to visit this site. I am in dire straits. My fiance is feverously combing web pages and music stores looking to see if there is sheet music, arrangements anything pertaining to the song entitled Level Plain or "Magh Seola" for the Irish among us. We know that Janie Madden performs it, as well as Eileen Ivers with the boston Pops, but does anyone out there now if music exists and if so please let me know.

Thank you very much....hurry it could be a long four months to November.

Christopher
