Subject: what happened to the digitrad downloads? From: GUEST Date: 01 Aug 02 - 09:33 AM Having recently got a PC at home, I thought I'd download the digitrad. Following th links, it seems that its not available right now. It says "back soon" - but then I don't know how long its been saying that - nor what amount of time soon might be. Can anyone tell me, please, where its gone, how long for etc. Also - would it run on XP anyway? Thanks |
Subject: RE: what happened to the digitrad downloads? From: MMario Date: 01 Aug 02 - 09:45 AM I believe it would run on xp. I seem to recall that it was removed because some virus scanners were giving an (apparently bogus) alarm regarding the zipped file. Last I heard from Dick Greenhaus the latest release was nearly done - wich is probably what they are wating for to reinstate the downloads.

Subject: RE: what happened to the digitrad downloads? From: Joe Offer Date: 19 Dec 12 - 07:34 PM Hi- There are DOS, Mac, and Windows versions of the 2002 edition of the Digital Tradition Folk Song Database on our Download page. I think the downloads are still working, but I'm reluctant to test-download the database every time I answer this question.* Dunno why - I think my Catholic upbringing makes me feel it's "wasteful." ;-) I mean, think of all those poor children in China who go to bed without any data..... -Joe- *(but every time I've tested, it has worked) |
