It's on over the August Bank Holiday weekend, although we'll be arriving the Monday before the festival and leaving the Wednesday after in order to incorporate it into a family holiday.

Any other 'catters going?

John

Looks like we'll be there on our own.

:-(

It was too hard last year to find a decent tune session. The town is nice and the festval is about the right size but they insist on using the few pubs as official venues. The only one that was not used on a regular basis and where a session could take place, was so noisy, I couldn't hear my own banjo!

I am sure you will have a good time. Bike riding on the Camel Trail is good fun.

John J.
Yep we'll be there.
Not sure Shambles is right about the tune sessions (it may just have been last year ,different committee).
My own favourites are the street sessions.
I'm sure there will be other 'catters there.
John

All it needs is for one suitable pub to agree to be a home, for the weekend for informal music making, preferably one big enough to allow for a tune only session as well as one catering for singers.

Last year we did get agreement fron the licensee to play in the garden of The Swan. This was going fine until it had to stop at 6 pm as an official festival event was booked for the upstairs room, and we were making too much noise!

The bar in the Ship was not officially used but is too small to cater for all informal tastes. All of the other bars were officialy used, either lunchtime or evening, which makes it difficult to establish any informal stuff. There was no shortage of folk looking to take part last year. I am not sure if there will be as many trying this year, we won't be.

I wish the festival well and would like to return if some suitable venues for informal music making could be established.

So I'm not going to be on my own, GOOD!

I'll be bringing my bike (No.2 son and his mate are bringing my tandem, I'll bring my hybrid) so we'll certainly be doing some pedalling as well as singing / playing. Is the Camel trail any good for running? I guess it probably is if you can cycle it.

I'll attempt to revive this thread just before the festival to see if a meet can be arranged. I'll have my mudcat T shirt for recognition purposes.

John

That weekend The Camel Trail does get a bit like the M 25, especially later on in the day. A run in the early morning would be best.

That's OK, we'll be arriving in Wadebridge on the Monday before the festival so I would hope I might get quiet times to both cycle it and run it.

Thanks,

John
