Everyone is cordialy invited to a singers night / mudcat gathering on Monday 12 August at Swinton Folk Club, White Lion, Swinton where you will also be able to meet two very special guests and fellow mudcatters from across the big pond - Dick and Susan of the Digital tradition

For thise who dont know, the White Lion is at the Junction of Manchester Road (A6) and Worsley Road (A572). We will be starting around 8:30pm.

Susan and Dick are off to Wales the next day and then over to Yorkshire for the Whitby folk week the following weekend so this is your only chance of meeting them in Manchester before the resume their foreign travels;-) We may not be able to promise fine weather but lets give them a good warm Manchester welcome.

Pig sick. Just found out it's the same night as I'm playing for Bollin Morris at the Lymm Rushbearing. We usually end up at the Bull in Lymm for a session after the event but if it finishes early I'll fly up to Swinton to scrape up what's left - unless you all want to join the ceremony first.

Conveniently situated between Saltburn and Dorset, with the added advantage of VERY good company, superb singers & musicians, Robinson's beers in very good nick (and at a sensible price), etc etc.

Heheheh - just a few days to go. Can't wait now. Better than working for a living anyday:-)

BTW - I 'm trying to talk one of the daughters into making a special commemorative pint pot in hand painted glass. Should I just do it as a raffle or should we go for more? May not work anyway but suggestions would be welcome...

Dave, I wish I could be there!!! I have very happy memories of the Swinton FC and the wonderful hospitality of its members, and I did My 1st Club Floor spot there, at the invite of your self and Spot The Dog!!! special or what!!! just keep Dick and Susan clear of that dangerous beer!!

Noreen - Lymm is only very tidgy - generally made up of the locals. Bollin and sometimes Thelwall Morris take part. Brian Corrigan says we have to assemble at 18.45 in the car park. Procession up the hill to church by dam; some go into church for the service whilst heathens go in pub (next door) after which it's back down the hill for dancing. the evening usually finishes at the Bull with a bit of a session. Do not think in terms of Saddleworth Rushcart!

Just got back from meeting Dick and Sue. Cracking night. Lovely crowd. Locals and new friends met and merged. Good music and chat.
