We usually end up at the Bull in Lymm for a session after the event but if it finishes early I'll fly up to Swinton to scrape up what's left - unless you all want to join the ceremony first. Miss you lot! HelenJ. |

Subject: RE: Manchester (UK) 'catters meet Aug 12 From: John J Date: 05 Aug 02 - 09:18 AM Guest: if you're going to be somewhere between Saltburn and Dorset, can I recommend Swinton? Conveniently situated between Saltburn and Dorset, with the added advantage of VERY good company, superb singers & musicians, Robinson's beers in very good nick (and at a sensible price), etc etc. See you at Swinton?? John :-) |
Subject: RE: Manchester (UK) 'catters meet Aug 12 From: Noreen Date: 05 Aug 02 - 10:39 AM Helen, what time does the Lymm Rushbearing start? I think Dick and Susan might like to see it if it can be fitted into their schedule (and it's not very far from Swinton, D&S) |
Subject: RE: Manchester (UK) 'catters meet Aug 12 From: Ned Ludd Date: 05 Aug 02 - 07:29 PM John J, Guest was me, My cookie went walkabout! I'm already trying to make the logistics of coming to Swinton work out so I might get there. Noreen, thanks, I'd missed that thread. It looks like Toni Bunnel may have been the gurdy busker. They're great for busking you don't get ignored! |

Better than working for a living anyday:-) BTW - I 'm trying to talk one of the daughters into making a special commemorative pint pot in hand painted glass. Should I just do it as a raffle or should we go for more? May not work anyway but suggestions would be welcome... Cheers DtG |

Subject: RE: Manchester (UK) 'catters meet Aug 12 From: GUEST,HelenJ Date: 12 Aug 02 - 03:22 AM Noreen - Lymm is only very tidgy - generally made up of the locals. Bollin and sometimes Thelwall Morris take part. Brian Corrigan says we have to assemble at 18.45 in the car park. Procession up the hill to church by dam; some go into church for the service whilst heathens go in pub (next door) after which it's back down the hill for dancing. the evening usually finishes at the Bull with a bit of a session. Do not think in terms of Saddleworth Rushcart! Keep fit, Helen. |
Subject: RE: Manchester (UK) 'catters meet Aug 12 From: Dave Wynn Date: 12 Aug 02 - 08:09 PM Just got back from meeting Dick and Sue. Cracking night. Lovely crowd. Locals and new friends met and merged. Good music and chat. Wish we could have one of these nights every month. Spot |
Subject: RE: Manchester (UK) 'catters meet Aug 12 From: Alio Date: 13 Aug 02 - 04:38 AM Sorry we couldn't be there. Why do all good events have to happen in the same week? We've got Limbrick and Brigg this week - both singers clubs. Glad you had a brill night. Ali P.s. If you've never been to Saddleworth Rushcart, I can definitely recomment it. It's amazing! |
