Subject: Where can I find written melodies From: GUEST,dwh99@msn.com Date: 05 Aug 02 - 12:25 AM I use this site alot to locate lyrics and appreciate the attached MIDI files. My question is where can I find the simple melody written out in notes. I'm looking for just the melody not chords or anything instrument specific. Any ideas? I locate an obscure old song like Coo Coo Bird but I can't find the melody to know how the tune goes. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Where can I find written melodies From: pavane Date: 05 Aug 02 - 08:17 AM There are many shareware packages on offer which can produce a score from various tune formats, including MIDI and abc. I admit that the score facilities of my own offering HARMONY do not compare with specialist scoring packages, but are adequate for most simple melodies. The reason is that HARMONY is intended to be a music processor, not just a display facility. It can add value to tunes, for example by adding 3rds or 5ths, adding chords, or making a tune into a round. It can import MIDI and ABC tunes, or create new, randomly generated, tunes in folk styles. (Some are good, some are awful!) Download (free) is at www.greenhedges
