I'm going to be staying in Northumbria (Bamburgh to be precise) from Saturday 10th August through till Friday 16th. Anybody know of any good folk/trad stuff going on over that period within a reasonable radius of Bamburgh?

The Colpits pub in Durham have a great session on Monday nights and on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at the swan pub in greenside both a distance away from Bamborough but there used to be a session in a pub in Alnwick unfortunately I can't remember which pub but I think it was on a thursday night ask at the tourist information or get down to the chantry in morpeth (bagpipe museum) and they may be able to give you more up to date info and its worth a visit anyway. I must remember to use punctuation. enjoy John

TIC's in my experience are a iffy bet. If they say NO they mean "I don't know"
If they say "there is only........... " they still don't know . If they say "I go to....." then and only then can you be sure you have a good insight. In my experience. & I give TIC's information (that they don't have in a year's time).
Best of luck - I usually get a telephone number and surf in the old fashioned way.

Thanks to all.

John ... the bagpipe museum in Morpeth sounds fascinating and within day trip reach of Bamburgh.

Aidan
