Subject: Grainne Mhaol Lyrics/chords From: Big Mick in Michigan Date: 14 May 98 - 09:23 PM Since this is such an august body of knowledge, I wonder if you all could help me with a couple of sets of lyrics/chords that I have been looking for? Forgive spelling errors on the first one, but it seems it was called "Grainne Mhaol". The second is "The Jackets Green". It seems as though I heard them on a Wolfetones album, but I can't seem to lay my hands on them. All assistance is greatly appreciated. Mick in Michigan

Subject: RE: Grainne Mhaol Lyrics/chords From: Bruce O. Date: 15 May 98 - 12:14 AM I.e., Grace O'Malley. That's closer to correct Gaelic that the title usually given (but missing accents). There's a version in DT. For other songs to the tune and the tune itself see "Granuaile" in Scarce Songs on my website www.erols.com/olsonw I think there's an old thread on it here, too, but I don't remember how it was spelled. |
Subject: Lyr Add: GRÁINNE MHAOL From: Largo Date: 15 May 98 - 03:28 AM Hi Mick, You can take it right down here.
Sé do bheatha a bhean ba léanmhar
CURFÁ: Óró sé do bheatha 'bhaile
Tá Gráinne Mhaol ag teacht thar sáile;
A bhuí le Rí na Bheart go bhfeiceann; *
Hail, O bereaved woman!
CHORUS: Oh, welcome home,
Grace O'Malley is coming over the sea,
Thanks to the King of Miracles that I see,
Cheers |
