My guest this week (August 15) on Folk Roots/Folk Branches will be performer, author and record producer JIM ROONEY.

We'll discuss his musical journey from the hillbilly music scene in Boston in the 1950s, through the folk scene of the 1960s (documented in Jim's and Eric Von Schmidt's book, "Baby, Let Me Follow You Down"), and on to his present activities as both a performer and record producer in Nashville. During the conversation, we'll hear songs from Jim's new album, from his first recording with Bill Keith in 1962, and from some of the albums that Jim has produced for artists like John Prine and Nanci Griffith.

Other artists that will likely be heard on this week's show include Yolanda Aranda & Enrique Coria, Leon & Eric Bibb, the Cottars, Ronny Cox, Melissa Ferrick, Michele Greene, Harmonia, Ivonne Hernandez, Joe Hickerson, Connie Kaldor, Enoch Kent, Joel Mabus, Kimberly M'Carver, Joel Rafael, the Short Sisters, Bill Staines, James Talley, Linda Thompson, Terry Tufts, Dave Van Ronk, the Wailin' Jennys, and Gillian Welch.

Folk Roots/Folk Branches is heard from 9:00-11:30 (Eastern) on Thursday mornings on CKUT, 90.3 FM in Montreal, or in RealAudio from the Folk Roots/Folk Branches site.
