That's the song. I have the Kimble Family version, but the lyrics are hard to make out in places. Someone has to know this tune.

My mom always had a gallon of the vin rose in stock, along with a gallon of whatever the burgundy was called. But alas, she's been gone for years, and the empty Red Mountain bottles with her.

Red Mountain Wine really exists, but it refers to a wine-growing region in Washington State, not a particular brand.

There are several performances of RED MOUNTAIN WINE on YouTube, but I don't recognize any well-known musicians there.

@ClaireBear, yep, popular with us Hippies in 60's and 70's because it was CHEAP. Earlier in this thread someone said it was "the best cheap wine in history" - not the stuff I drank! It was rotgut. The brand Red Mountain I mean. Now Red Mountain refers to fine wines from a particular area in Washington state.

I am writing about that era in my "Scattershot Memoir" that will be up on my blog soon, and Red Mountain wine figures in it. I'll come back and post here when I have that segment posted.

LMAO, I drank my share of it while in the Marines stationed in CA. It was, as I remember, $1.89 a gallon. Just the right price for a guy making $80 a month! I may have a picture, I'll check.

Gallo made Red Mountain Vin Rose in the mid 60's, was 52 cents a quart when I was a high school senior in '65. We drank it hot, right out of the bottle. Makes me want to barf just thinking about it. Does anyone know if there is a place to get a bottle? Maybe I'll call the Gallo winery and make a plea!
