The chorus is: I'm satisfied with nothing to do but bum for a dime for some red mountain wine. Anybody know the verses? thanks.

It may not be the one, but according to The Folk Music Index a song titled "Red Mountain Wine" is performed by:

1. Alden, Ray. Old Time Friends, Marimac 9009, Cas (1987), cut# 18
2. Kimble Family. Eight Miles Apart, Heritage (Galax) 022, LP (1979), cut# 18
3. Kimble Family. Pine Knots School Rowdies, Marimac 9037, Cas (1992), cut# 3

And on LOST & FOUND: CLASSIC BLUEGRASS (Rebel CD-1112).

That's the song. I have the Kimble Family version, but the lyrics are hard to make out in places. Someone has to know this tune.

THIS (by E. L. Jefe & Gib Guilbeau) might be the original.

If anyone has the lyrics for this song, please email them to me.
Our jam group (bluegrass) plays this song and I can't find it anywhere.

Thanks
Mary

From: GUEST,Andrew Woodland

Ain't got no worries
Ain't got no home
Ain't got nobody
to call all my own

Chorus:
But I'm satisfied with nothin' to do
but bum for a dime for some red mountain wine.

Some women love me
sometimes they don't
some recognize me
sometimes they won't
[Chorus]

House in Carolina
and a barn in Tennessee
Boxcar in St. Louis
and a Jail in Old Waukee
[Chorus]

Could this possibly be the same 'Gallo Red Mountain" of the hippy era? The best cheap wine in history? If so, record it and I'll buy it. Those were some good days.

My mom always had a gallon of the vin rose in stock, along with a gallon of whatever the burgundy was called. But alas, she's been gone for years, and the empty Red Mountain bottles with her.

Thanks for the memory, though...

Red Mountain Wine really exists, but it refers to a wine-growing region in Washington State, not a particular brand.

There are several performances of RED MOUNTAIN WINE on YouTube, but I don't recognize any well-known musicians there.

There may not be a particular brand now, but there certainly was in the '60s and '70s.

@ClaireBear, yep, popular with us Hippies in 60's and 70's because it was CHEAP. Earlier in this thread someone said it was "the best cheap wine in history" - not the stuff I drank! It was rotgut. The brand Red Mountain I mean. Now Red Mountain refers to fine wines from a particular area in Washington state.

I am writing about that era in my "Scattershot Memoir" that will be up on my blog soon, and Red Mountain wine figures in it. I'll come back and post here when I have that segment posted.

LMAO, I drank my share of it while in the Marines stationed in CA. It was, as I remember, $1.89 a gallon. Just the right price for a guy making $80 a month! I may have a picture, I'll check.

Gallo made Red Mountain Vin Rose in the mid 60's, was 52 cents a quart when I was a high school senior in '65. We drank it hot, right out of the bottle. Makes me want to barf just thinking about it. Does anyone know if there is a place to get a bottle? Maybe I'll call the Gallo winery and make a plea!

There is a recent version of this song on You Tube by Dave Stacey the U.K's premier banjo builder and player. He's been singing it for a number of years.

Hoot.
