It is likely the one Joe mentions -- I grew up in the Acadian part of New Brunswick and never heard of a specific Acadian version, although they did sing the one for which Joe gives the link. It is as well known a French Canadian folk song as you could hope to find.

The song arises out of the rebellions of 1838.
