Hey Euclid! welcome aboard. Folks, this is my good friend, Euclid, and, believe me, he is as special as his name. Doug, you would really like this guy.

If you get together with him and get into a lying contest, have a tape running. You could sell me a copy even if you charged an outrageous price.

Kendall, now that you're back to singing again, come on out to the other coast and see us one of these months. Charley Noble's coming to Portland, OR in September. There's always room for you out here, too.

The Getaway is Oct 18-20, and it's gonna be a great one this year! (As it was every year I've been.)

Kendall, you are a shameless flirt! (I personally believe you and Max should sign up to do a song together at the concert. Or maybe not, if there's a time limit on songs.)

So glad to hear you're back in action, Kendall, and apparently in fine form. Woulda loved to see/hear all four of the guys, especially you, but I'm in the wrong "Portland." (I'm assuming you were performing somewhere in Maine.) I might've even taken my chances with the redhead to get to say hi to you. ;-)

Shame on me: Dave Mallet had the crowd in the palm of his hand. They loved his music - had them singing along to "Inch By Inch". Didn't know that politicians could sing. But his wry humor had the audience hanging on his every word. After mentioning that his Garden Song had made the list of "50 Best Folk Songs Ever" in a poll done by Singout!, he observed how proud he was to be up there with "Barbry Allan" and "Blowing In The Wind". Very funny; very modest; very wry.

Part II: for the Mudcat groupies. I looked for Kendall during intermission. He was of course surrounded by a "bevy of beauties" (Gordon Bok's description, not mine). One long, lean redhead with a halo of hair and the palest, finest skin was hanging onto his every word and looking daggars at any female who might presume to usurp her spot. I had to settle for a handshake from the Captain or risk losing my eyes. Three others of varying ages formed a barrier of adoring eyes. The man is shameless.

I had the pleasure of a brief encounter with Gordon Bok. Oh my! Is he a pretty man! When he looks you straight in the face, his eyes light up and dance. Our Captain may have competition in the Heartbreak Department. Oh yes...Gordon sings too.

I don't know what I did to rate such good friends, but, I'm glad I did it! It went better than I expected, and, although it is always a pleasure to perform with Gordon, tonight was even more special. Mallett was, as usual, a fireball; he had them all wound up before I got to them, so, I can thank him for much of the feedback.

Kendall and Gordon have been such good friends for so long that there are probably a thousand small private jokes they share, and one of them must have occurred to them while they were singing together. You gotta know from that exchange that Kendall got over his frazzled nerves in time to be himself on that stage -- full of ironic humor and singing up a storm. Well done, lad. Now rest your voice until the Getaway and NOMAD. See you there!

Sandy

Our Captain did himself proud tonight. He was introduced and went into "Maine Humorist" mode before introducing Gordon Bok. Had the audience laughing and paying attention. He performed "Starlight On The Rails" and "Over And Under The Ground" with Gordon. Not sure what happened but there was a bit of kibbitzing going on and Kendall cracked up in the middle of the song. Both seemed to really enjoy the moment.
No bare butts; no missing limbs; no bloody fans. Sorry Spaw. Maybe next time.
Dave Mallet was a treat. So was Mr. Bok. His guitar sang tonight. Have to admit I suffered through Referendum who insisted on singing African chants as if they were Tin Pan Alley fodder and some woman named Cindy who is quite famous (Broadway show "Island Life"?) Can't figure out why she needed three guitars to sing four songs that all sounded exactly alike. I must be getting old. And I left before Dan Fogelberg went on. I just couldn't sit still for an hour of his "hits". I know, Shame On Me.

Final comment: with a little time and patience, Kendall will be back to playing and singing full sets by the Getaway.

Can't wait to hear how it went for you, darlin'.

Goodgawd Doug, what are you thinking??? If the man removes his ass AND breaks a leg, it's going to be a very sorry state of affairs there tonight I can tell ya'!!! On the other hand, seeing a guy with his ass removed and his legs, one of which is broken, attached to his shoulder blades should have the audience in such a shocking state that it won't matter how he sings! On the minus side though, breaking a leg might topple him into one of the "Gordon Bok Fans" which Bok is probably peddling tonight along with his songbooks.....I hear they've gone well in the current end of summer heat wave. In any case, Kendall might get whacked by a blade and lose and ear or something and that might put everyone completely over the edge.........

Spaw

Cripes Kendall - If you feel your singing voice going - tell a story! (That should be easier on your voice then singing, right?) But it ain't gonna happen - you're just having a downeast-pessimistic-prepare-for-the-worst-and-that-way-I-won't-be-dissapointed moment.

Relax all you can and have faith in *other peoples* faith in you (even if your own in yourself may be racked with nerves).

You're debutting yourself in public? What the hell is that anyway? Frankly it sounds really painful and possibly humiliating but if it's your thing, I say go for it.

I'm curious though as to how you go about such a thing......and why. Removing your ass seems to be a significant modification to your body and one for which I can see no reason. Like most caucasian males, you're probably lacking in the ass department to begin with, but removing whatever pathetic and shriveled up ass you have left just seems a bit over the top to me. And why do it in public?

I think you need to reconsider your decision here.

Spaw

Kendall, I'd like to hear you brag about tell us how this went. It's a set, not a whole concert, eh? Poor Dan Fogleberg won't be able to get a song in for the crowd chanting "Kendall, Kendall..."

You'll be fine, Kendall. Despite recent problems with your voice, you're an 'old pro' whom people respect and love and THAT'S why you'll be on that stage. You'll be fine.
