I can recommend a documentary video of dance and music, "Hula, the First 30 Years, Merrie Monarch Festival", ©1994, TAK Communications, Inc. Also, for a mix of songs in Hawaiian and songs in English, anything by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole or Ulewehi Guerrero. I especially like Israel. If your looking strictly for traditional (ancient) Hawaiian, a search on Hawaiian websites would probably yeild recordings.

Try the newsgroup (alt.music.hawaiian), you'll find plenty of good info. there. Also, depending on where you are, 'The Masters Of The Slack Key Guitar' do quit a bit of touring (they also sing), they are very traditional (no comment here), there are also songs of the cowboys (Panieolo, bad spelling), anything by any of the Beamer family would be great. The more English in the songs the more it's been watered down (it would not be the kind, or hapa holie - half white), until you get to Don Ho & his Tiny Bubbles. Barry

For recordings (for sale) you can try

http://www.tropicaldisc.com/home.html

That is a music store that specializes in Hawaiian Music. You can get an idea of titles and artists by browsing there.

If you are interested in something in English, there is the sea shanty Rollin' Down To Old Maui (sic).

Maybe not appropriate for the age group but you may want to learn:

Let's Talk Dirty in Hawaiian

My Little Grass Shack in Kealakekua, Hawaii
