I am testing the waters...I don't think I can do anything at the Sou'wester. It has been too hard to get information from them, although people could of course stay there and zoom up to the camp I have in mind. It is called Camp Morehead and it is right on Willapa Bay..a nice big lodge with kitchen and fireplace..the usual picnic tables etc...it is not a large camp but it is your basic camp...cabins etc. Mens and Women's bathrooms. It is $16 per person per night. Food for another 4 or 5 meals, your generic camp type food would be made another $20 or so. It would follow the general formula for other cams in the area...Friday night potluck...large song circle on Friday evening...various workshops on Saturday..some with an emphasis on local songs...

about 4 hours from Seattle; 2 from Portland. Located right next to the Arc restaurant if people for some mysterious reason did not like camp food. (They have a nice Sunday brunch).

So who thinks they could come? Early bird prices would be about $50..maybe $55 or so for later enrolees. Everyone would have to pitch in a bit with cleaning and cooking but we would keep menu quite simple...

mg, if it's the weekend of Oct. 18, I would not be able to get there until about 1 or 2 PM on Saturday, but I would be able to stay Sat. night and as long as needed on Sunday. Gotta be in Seattle Sat. AM the 19th.

Let me know if that will work and whether there'd be any reduction in price for being there only part of the time.

I'll refresh this a couple more times...I'll contact people in Portland and in Seattle..in the meantime, if anyone has a good mailing list in the area and wants to put the question out to any interested parties, please do so.

mg, can you email me a blurb with all the important info? I can pass it around at Artichoke Music Saturday afternoon and Yolas' Foster Road Coffeehouse on Sunday and also make it available at the 2nd and 3rd Saturday folk music jams/song circles.

I do have some nibbles...will try to call a few Portland people tomorrow. I checked the camp out again today..it is a very peaceful site...nothing fancy..generic cabins and lodge...a kitchen probably better than most camp kitchens..

the site is the main attraction. it is not large but is on the bay and has a fire pit.. mg

beautiful place. I did find out one small detail which is that there is no heat except for the fireplace in the lodge and no heat in the cabins. I am asking if people can bring certain types of safe heaters. This might deter some people...not me personally because I don't turn heat on until mid-November usually or later. It can get chilly or it can be beauitful.

I'll probably be in Seattle this weekend at Song Circle. Might see some of you then. Getting some interest from Portland. I am leaning toward officially calling this as a happening, with the understanding that there is little time for obsessive planning and people who come should be prepared for a little flexibility and perhaps bring lots of cozy warm things to wear.
