Bridgnorth was blooming as ever. Allan, Sandra , the committee, and all the stewards. (Somebody tell Ron for me that I though he did a great job) I think you all did brilliantly. If you had any problems I didn't hear about them. And usually someone leans on my counter and has a moan!! Thanks to you all.

I've been on autopilot all day. Talk about zapped. But I have booked Pete Morton for the club.

Surprise big hit for me was Jabadaw. Surprise big disappointment was Crasdant.

Next? Swanage in two weeks time for me.

Where were you all! I never saw you! Mind you we never shifted from the cracking sessions with Ian & Fi in the Black Horse. Such talents on show, such good company, loverly beer..... and a ride on a Steam Train home, what could be a more perfect weekend.

Badger and I will see you at Jackfield Mrs Lemon. Shall I just hand over all my money at the start of the weekend?

I'm looking forward to it as it sounds a bit different to the other festivals this year - a day of jazz and blues, a day of country and folk.

Had a great festival. The lemonade was tasty as ever and the Batham's and Dorothy Goodbody's exellent. Even my voice was in pretty good form and we had some interesting discussions with Dave Webber & Anni Fentiman and Jim Mageean (separately!!) Particularly liked the shanty session on Sunday night in the Bell & Talbot, with the Wilsons, Mollymawks, Jim Mageean and Johnny Collins. Magic!

Now hit be reality syndrome, having been away at festivals and various singing events around the country for the last 25 days in a row (with one 18 hour stop over for a singing gig). Visited Sidmouth FF (Devon), Squiverfest (Shropshire), busked in Bury (Lancashire), folk clubs in Shrewsbury, Swinton (Manchester), Limbrick (Lancashire), West Haddlesea (Yorkshire), Whitby FF, Bridgnorth FF but now I am home! Ugh!

Gillie still posing as magician - ahg I hate computors (sometimes!) -- smashing time in Whitby, meeting lots of catters and otherwise. Good to meet Joe, Susan and Dick, had some great singing and sessions in the Tap and Spile.

From there went down with Col K to Bridgnorth: had a fantastic weekend just chilling and wandering around the site, meeting new people and old friends. Highlight must be Jabadaw and of course meeting more mud-catter's that I had not meet before i.e. Green Man and lady, Noreen, Abuwood and Alan W - talking of which Alan's beard was plaited on the Monday night by myself, a short while later he came to find me, and complained that he felt as if I had bought his feminine out and could could I put it right!! Great fun was had by all onlookers whilst I re-arranged beard into a more suitable style.

Eventualy arrived back home, delayed by a broken clutch cable on Wednesday tea-time courtesy of Col K. Many thanks to a good friend. Magician poorly, but has picked up a little since we arrived back. Good to be home.

Col K retuns home tomorrow and then is off on his travels again on Friday to Fylde and then on to Hull Maritime. Regards to all.

Gillie

PS I wish I was Hermione Grainger. Then I could have gone to Bridgnorth as well as Towersey....

Abuwood - Rhiannon and I were in that session Sun Lunchtime (I was the Mick 'Mick' who sang and played a guitar instrumental). We'd only intended to stay for a while and then go off to meet some friends but the session was so enjoyable we stayed. I've been to lots of good sessions, but it's a long time since I've been to one that was as much fun as well; a credit to Ian who was running it.

I did go to both Towersey and Bridgnorth (well it's worth it when you're booked at both of them :). Cheers for the nice comments r.e. Jabadaw - they made me smile. And apologies to anyone who encountered our rhythm section after they'd finished their Bushmills... :S
