Subject: RE: Tune Req: Reel De La Main Blanche From: GUEST,gabriel Date: 14 Aug 11 - 01:05 PM Hi, André Alain (fiddle) along with Tico Petit (accordion) and André Paris (piano) would play both the jig (Gigue de la débauche) and reel (Main blanche) versions in the same set back in the days, years before la Bottine recorded la Main Blanche. On La Mistrine, Denis Fréchette composed an arrangement to it. Gabriel |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Reel De La Main Blanche From: GUEST,Brían Date: 26 Aug 02 - 03:59 PM Thanks, Masato. Le reel des soucoupes volantes is JENNY'S CHICKENS with a Quebecois accent. I think I know a French fiddler who probably knows it. I'll probably run into him eventually. I could get it from him if I don't figure it out by then. Brían |

Subject: Reel De La Main Blanche From: GUEST,Brían Date: 25 Aug 02 - 10:48 PM I have been listening to this infectious tune on La Bottine Souriante's album LA MISTRINE. Composed by Jean Fréchette, originally in 6/8 time, they play it in reel time. I am able to pick up the gist of it by ear, but it sounds kinda lean. Any violoneurs out there?
