Subject: RE: Help: Song/ jam Sessions in London From: manitas_at_work Date: 29 Aug 02 - 08:31 AM There is a blues/country/pop jam session at the Spotted Dog, Upton Lane, E7 on Thursday nights. This is a session that has been moving around for a while after being there originally on Friday nights. I've seen about twenty guitars there on one night! I think there may still be something going on at the Theatre Royal, Stratford, E15 on Saturday afternoons and at the Golden Fleece. Capel Road, E7 on Sunday afternoons. I play at a mainly Irish session at the Old Black Bull, stratford, E15 on Thursdays. It's mainly instrumental but singers are welcome. |

Subject: RE: Help: Song/ jam Sessions in London From: Liz the Squeak Date: 29 Aug 02 - 06:40 PM Jam session, our house, next time I've been to see my friend the Penguin and raided his back pasture for blackberries, crab apples and sloes. Bring your own jars. May even do another bottle of Sloe Gin if I find enough sloes (blackthorn, relative of the plum). Or is there another kind of jam session? LTS |

Subject: RE: Help: Song/ jam Sessions in London From: BanjoRay Date: 29 Aug 02 - 07:51 PM Three jams in London advertised in the FOAOTMAD magazine The Old Time News:
Balham: 1st Sunday - The Grove, Oldridge Rd. Call Dave East (020) 8677 9989
I've not been to any of these, so I don't know what they're like, but they're not necessarily pure Old Time or Bluegrass. I do know that Caspar Cronk plays great musical saw!

Subject: RE: Help: Song/ jam Sessions in London From: mooman Date: 30 Aug 02 - 06:15 AM There used to be a good Sunday night session at the Red Cow in Richmond that ran for about 25 years (I went regularly for 14 of those before moving to Belgium 11 years ago) but I believe it has just packed up which is a crying shame as it was one of the best. Round the corner in the Duke's Head, The Vineyard, Richmond there is often a session on a Wednesday night. Probably best to check with the pub before going to be sure the musos are coming in that night. mooman |
