Subject: flower girl From: benjidubell@bellsouth.net Date: 23 May 98 - 03:13 PM I am looking for the lyrics, song title and artist from a 60's era song that contains: I love the flower girl, oh I don't know just why, she simply caught my eye..... Thanks |

Subject: RE: flower girl From: Joe Offer Date: 23 May 98 - 03:57 PM Now, Benji, You could get yourself killed, or at least seriously insulted, asking for a song like that at a folk music site. Much worse things would happen to me for answering it. However, it is in the True Spirit of Folk Music to answer questions when they are asked, even though I truly hate this song. It's by the Cowsills, and the real name of the song is "The Rain, the Park and Other Things." Now, here is a link to a site that will tell you all about the Cowsills and the Partridge Family and other tacky groups. I'm sorry I did this. My penance will be that awful song, running through my head for the rest of the week. Worse than "Small, Small World." However, I warn anybody who dares to flame me for answering this question. If you flame me, "Small, Small World" will be with you for a MONTH!!!!! the devil made me do it..... -Joe Offer- What was that about feeding kitties????? |

Subject: RE: flower girl From: Ralph Butts Date: 23 May 98 - 04:20 PM Joe...... I admire your spunk, but get ready for a barrage of invective. You're certainly on target about the song, though. ......Tiger |

Subject: RE: flower girl From: alison Date: 24 May 98 - 01:39 AM Hi, You do realise why the "It's a small world" ride at Disneyland(or is it world.... whichever one's in Florida) is a boat ride.......... it's so as you can't get off the damn thing. There was no queue..... my hubby and I thought, "We'll give this one a try." 15 seconds into the ride and we were seriously considering risking electrocution and leaping out of the boat........... Horrible memory......... thanks for bringing it up Joe!! I'll consider that little rendition of yours to be my punishment for asking for Celine Dion lyrics earlier in the week!!! I'm sorry... I'm really, really sorry.... I won't do it again....... you believe me don't you??!!!! Slainte Alison |

Subject: RE: flower girl From: Frank in the swamps Date: 24 May 98 - 05:42 AM Everyone who gets onto that horror trip speaks of "small world" in terms that indicate serious trauma. Everyone who rides "Pirates of the Carribean" loves it and loves the song "Yo, ho, A Pirates life for me". Everyone remembers "small world" and the horrible tune. Nobody remembers Pirates and the fun song. Ergo, pain is stronger than pleasure. And Alison, officially the Floridan blight is "World". But we residents have other words for it. Frank i.t.s. |

Subject: RE: flower girl From: Will Date: 24 May 98 - 12:56 PM Yup, its a horrible song. But how many here loved it when the Cowsills first released it? |

Subject: RE: flower girl From: Benji DuBell Date: 24 May 98 - 10:40 PM Well, thanks to everyone who risked their sanity by answering my question. The lyrics that i knew have been running through my head day and night for a week and it's been driving me nuts--they're coming to take me away--ha ha!!-- but thaty's another stort.....I won't make the mistake of asking again for that type of tune but remember--in the 60's -- that song was considered folk-rock! Thanks again! |

Subject: RE: flower girl From: katlaughing Date: 16 Nov 99 - 10:43 PM serenity....read the whole thread and you will find links which tell you more Awright, all you purists, listen up! Benji, glad you asked, because I for one loved this song and still sing a long when the oldies station plays it! No flaming from me, Joe! And, Benji, ya'll come back, ya hear? We aren't quite as bad, usually, as Joe makes us out to be, BUT in the future, you might want to look at Lyrics World at http://www.summer.com.br/~pfilho/html/main_index/index.html for any *pop* or rock song lyrics. katlaughing |
