Subject: RE: Ring, Ring, The Blue Bells of Scotland From: RTim Date: 14 Oct 17 - 07:53 PM According to Wikipedia - The Bluebells of Scotland is the usual modern name for a Scottish folk song (Roud # 13849). It was written by Dora Jordan, an English actress and writer. First published in 1801. All I know is it is a tune used for a Morris Stick Dance in the village of Adderbury, Oxfordshire and the tune is also played on the Adderbury (St, Marys) church Carillon every 3 hours on of the days in the week - don't have the day at hand.......... Subject: RE: Ring, Ring, The Blue Bells of Scotland From: Jack Campin Date: 14 Oct 17 - 08:00 PM "Ring the Bluebells of Scotland" seems to be an entirely different song (which Jim has been unlucky enough to hear, I haven't). There is a version by Kenneth McKellar, who was willing to sing anything if you paid him (great voice though). |
