My student teacher is teaching the kids a song that goes:

Oh there were two sailors come from o'er the sea,
If you want to go away again, come along with me.
Oh, wishy washy wishy washy wishy washy wee,
If you want to go away again, come along with me!

The source says "American folk song". Is it? It sounds to me more like the singing games of British origin. Has anyone seen/played this game?

I am also looking for a source on this song. It is in my Kodaly song collection. I'll be finishing up my Kodaly certification this summer and I think I will be able to get a source on it. I'll post back if I do :)

Looking up this song today and found it in a Marion Rose collection of mostly anonymous/traditional songs for dancing. If anyone turns up anything on this song, please let me know! Thanks.

Am also working on Kodaly certification. Found it in Jill Trinka's Folksongs, Singing Games, and Play Parties, Vol. 1. P. 31 . Says British Isles Singing Game.
