Subject: Harmonies in London From: Gray D Date: 13 Sep 02 - 07:10 PM For 'catters in the U.K., well, within striking distance of London. If you're into harmony and acapell...accappel...acc...unaccompanied singing, there's a charity event for Water Aid in London on Sunday 15th. Sept. A lot of people will be singing stuff from Georgia (Eastern Europe) at Bernie Spain Gardens, a small park next to the Oxo Tower on the South Bank between Waterloo and Blackfriars Bridge starting at 14:30 You might want to come and have a listen (trust me, the harmonies are just wonderful). nearest tube: Waterloo |
Subject: RE: Harmonies in London From: lady penelope Date: 13 Sep 02 - 07:32 PM Bum, I'm off to St. Ives today! I've done some Bulgarion singing and I'm interested in scoping some of the other eastern block styles. Typical! Ah well, have fun. TTFN M'Lady P. |
Subject: RE: Harmonies in London From: Liz the Squeak Date: 14 Sep 02 - 12:51 AM Is it part of the Mayor of London's festival there? Discovered by accident last year, that along the South Bank, around the area where the London Eye is, and the South Bank Centre, Red Ken started a festival, that has some pretty diverse and amazing acts. It's going on all weekend, and culminates in a spectacular firework display Sunday evening, along that part of the Thames. Shame it isn't better publicised, especially in the rest of London! LTS |
Subject: RE: Harmonies in London From: GUEST,Gray D (from a cybercafe) Date: 15 Sep 02 - 05:17 PM Lady P - if you want some info on Georgian and other Eastern European workshops I could post the address for an e-mail group when I get home. Liz - yes it was. Our bit was organised by the very wonderful Helen Chadwick and its fair to say it was a bit of a blast - for yer 'umble anyway - but then, I was up on stage (yeaaaaaaaahhhh!!). Unfortunately I had to leave before Transglobal Underground and the fireworks (bum). Great day though. |
