Subject: Hide Away?? From: GUEST,Cookie Date: 18 Sep 02 - 02:21 PM Another one I need help with is. 'Hide Away', presumed title, artist unknown, last heard on a 78 years ago, has a line in it about 'get your baggage on the deck and don't forget to get your pass, for you can't steal on deck and hide away.' Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Cookie |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Hide Away?? From: GUEST Date: 23 Jun 13 - 12:10 PM I know the tune you are talking about. Poor Benny and Double Decker String Band both have versions of it on CD's. They both call it "Hideaway". There are a ton of lyrics to it and was wondering if I can get them from any website as it would take so long to decipher. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Hide Away?? From: Jim Dixon Date: 23 Jun 13 - 06:39 PM I think there are a couple of different versions of the song you want already posted at Mudcat. One is in the DT and called GOSPEL BOAT, attributed to Pearl Nye. One is called HIDEAWAY, as recorded by Oscar Ford. Apparently they are both based on an old minstrel song called DE GOSPEL RAFT, by Frank Dumont, from 1878. |
