Somebody was asking me today about how they could get the tunes to Digital Tradition songs in ABC notation. Here's my answer:

The DOS (downloadable) version of the DT has the songs in SongWright, and the online version has them as MIDI. We don't bother to convert the Digital Tradition songs to ABC or shette music or other formats, because there's a Website called Yet Another Digital Tradition that does it better than we can.

Another DT "mirror" I like is 8notes.com - look under "traditional," Their conversion of the DT tunes makes very nice lead sheets.

    Hope that helps.

    -Joe-

I've found myself very glad more than once when the Cat was down that I bookmarked 'Mudcat Help and Trouble Forum' beforehand. When the 'Cat is down, that's where I go; it lets me know that we're all still alive and just waitin'. And in the meantime, you can learn something on various subjects. The same thing is true of Pip Freeman's 'The Annexe'. I go there more often; it's an easy site where like-minded people congregate.

Jude, as I understand it, Max moved the Mudcat to a new and bigger server, but he doesn't yet have the funds or time to set up mirror sites. So if the 'Cat is down, we're all stuck with [gulp!] life.

Aloha,
Mark

Where have all the mirrors gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the mirrors gone?
Long time Ago
Where have all the mirrors gone?
Max Spiegel broke them every one
When will he ever learn?
When will he ever learn?

Max ran out of money for Mudcat, and the servers are all sick. Buy a MudCat CD set and help fund new equipment! (grin)

Up until recently if www.mudcat.org was down there were a variety of other "mirror" sites that I could log onto such as ragtime, loki and dhama these were also useful for when I logged onto mudchat as I could view threads while chatting. If it's the same address/site my browser tends to overwrite my current window with the new request. Recently I've tried to call up ragtime and loki etc and keep getting does not exist messages . Have they been closed? Or is it my connection that's not working correctly?

I only recently started looking at this site on an occasional basis, but when I did drop in a long time back there was a link from the database to a [section/separate site?] which had some lyrics with sheet music attached. I may have missed whole screeds of info/correspondence, but has this been discontinued?
