Early this year, musicmic solicited Mudcatter CDs on the forum for review in his column for the Philly Folk Society's newsletter. WYSIWYG was going to post the reviews on the forum. I mailed Mike a CD by my band Greenhouse, and some time later asked him via PM whether he had received it. He replied that he had not, so I mailed another (this was back in April, I believe).

I have not heard or seen anything since. Have other catters sent CDs to musicmic, and has anyone actually seen their work reviewed?

Cheers,
Michael

There is a thread (Review: PHILLY FOLKSONG SOCIETY Reviews) where I have posted the reviews Mike Miller has written since requesting CDs here at Mudcat, and it includes a number of Mudcatter projects. (None of the artists reviewed or anyone else for that matter has posted in the thread where I ran them, and I am wondering if posting them has served any purpose.)

The reviews are actually written for the Philly Folksong Society's newsletter "Tune Up" and it's not published in the summer so Mike has been on hiatus. I heard from Mike recently that he's getting back to the reviews for the fall season.

The policy, BTW, is that they are posted here AFTER "Tune Up" comes out-- that's only fair, considering that their newlsetter is a benefit available to PFS members, not an item for the general public. So I think it's not nice to scoop their newsletter by posting the reviews here first-- PFS members oughttta see them first.

If you are concerned about material he has not reviewed, you might want to drop him a PM after looking at his guidelines here: Review: Independent Recordings Revued.

Here I am, fit as a fiddle and ready for love. I do believe I reviewed Greenhouse, but I'll have to check with Susan to be sure. I review about 50% of the CDs I receive. I can only do three or four each month and, as I never write an unfavorable review, I just pick the ones that I can most easily recomend. I have some backlog of CDs that I will report on when that inevitable slow month comes around. Meanwhile, dont be discouraged. I am always open to new recordings. Send them to me like this.....

I look forward to hearing from you. (p.s. Thanks, Susuan)

Artists:

I just received a copied e-mail from someone who is submitting a CD to Mike, answering all the questions I asked in the review thread, giving Mike and I complete information about the CD. I cannot TELL you all how HELPful that was, and it's the only time soneone has done what I asked. It makes it all MUCH easier.

Listen up, artists-- These reviews are, potentially, important to YOU. Please give the submission process the time the music deserves. Treat yourself as the professional you are!
