Subject: Day of Dance, Saltaire (W Yorks) From: Bagpuss Date: 25 Sep 02 - 08:09 AM Just picked up a leaflet for this event, from which proceeds go to charity (Yorkshire CND and Oxfam). Have fun and help a good cause too! Anyone planning to go? I might go to a couple of dance workshops, but there are also singing ones and a couple of musicians ones too. http://www.ifrance.com/yohlg/dodsaltaire/index.html |

Subject: RE: Day of Dance, Saltaire (W Yorks) From: michaelr Date: 25 Sep 02 - 08:07 PM Question: What does "saltaire" mean? I have a CD with a tune on it called "Andy's Saltire". Same thing? Typo? What is it? Curious, Michael |
Subject: RE: Day of Dance, Saltaire (W Yorks) From: Noreen Date: 25 Sep 02 - 08:19 PM Saltaire is a place, named by its founder/benevolent mill owner, a Mr (Titus?) Salt, as I recall. A saltire is a heraldic-type cross- would Andy's Saltire be the cross of St Andrew? Off the top of my head- I should really crosscheck with Google. ;0) |
