Is it the same as the Broom of the Cowden Yowes?

Several discussions are around. Broom o' the CowdenYowes
Broom o' the Cowden Yowes
Broom o' the Cowden Yowes

We have it in the DT as well with 2 versions.

Have you looked at any of those?

Other BONNIE BROOM songs in the DT. Both are Child ballads.

TWO SISTERS (Bonnie Broom)

BONNIE BROOM (questions)

I was also trying to obtain their lyrics to this song, however it seems to be a variant of the "Two Sisters" or "The Bonny Swans".

Ive got the Child book that has all of the versions in it, If you're lookin for a particular version, give me a clue about it and I'll have a look for you! Its been called the bonny swans, the twa sister, the bonnie mill dams of binnorie, Binnorie Oh Binnorie....the list could go on! Damn good song though!

If it's the Cruel Sister you're after, then it's the Pentangle revision of 1970. The "bonny broom" refrain doesn't belong to the song traditionally; they borrowed it, and the tune, from a set of Riddles Wisely Expounded which appeared in D'Urfey's Pills to Purge Melancholy (see Child 1A). Anybody who has recorded Cruel Sister / Binnorie (etc) with that refrain has, whether they know it or not, used not a traditional, but a modern remaking of the song.

The search engine here will find everything you need if you ask it for lay the bent to the bonny broom. The subject has been discussed a great many times here in the past.

Or search for Child #10 to get the umpteen versions (OK only 13 at the moment) of the Two Sisters in the Digital Tradition.
