Subject: RE: Tech: How To burn a CD from a MP3 file? From: Bill D Date: 01 Oct 02 - 07:54 PM ok...great! I learn something every day! I am partially right that the resultant .CDA files are similar in size to .wavs, I guess.... (My kid has an MP3 player with a 10 gig drive...has several hundred songs already on a little gadget the size of a small tape player!....things change fast!) |
Subject: RE: Tech: How To burn a CD from a MP3 file? From: GUEST,Al Date: 01 Oct 02 - 07:41 PM CD files are actually .CDA files. Your cd burning software converts .WAV files to .CDA files when you tell it you want to create a music CD, as opposed to a data CD. Maybe some burning software will convert from .mp3 to .CDA. If you have a copy of Sound Forge, the batch converter will allow you to convert from .mp3 to .WAV, and then your burning program takes over from there. I'm sure there are a lot of other ways too. Good luck. Al |

Subject: RE: Tech: How To burn a CD from a MP3 file? From: Bill D Date: 01 Oct 02 - 04:47 PM hmmm...I understood that the limit to CD capacity WAS just that they were .wavs and took up much more space than MP3s... |
Subject: RE: Tech: How To burn a CD from a MP3 file? From: GUEST Date: 01 Oct 02 - 04:32 PM a conventional CD, which is .wav files I don't think so Bill. Conventional CD music files have thier own format (the name escapes me) which are turned into .wav, .aiff. or .mp3 format in computer applications, depending on settings and application. Not so? A |

Subject: RE: Tech: How To burn a CD from a MP3 file? From: Bill D Date: 01 Oct 02 - 02:52 PM the technology to play MP3s *as* MP3s from a CD is fairly new...if you want to burn a conventional CD, which is .wav files, you need to convert them, as alluded to above...several programs will do this, including DBPoweramp, JetAudio, and MusicMatch...it is getting easier all the time. You will need a special device to play MP3s (in a portable gadget)....those are getting cheaper and more common also... |

Subject: RE: Tech: How To burn a CD from a MP3 file? From: GUEST,.gargoyle Date: 01 Oct 02 - 05:34 AM I use MusicMatch and EasyCD.
But....for a novice, starting from scratch, I now recommend Nero Burning ROM by a German Company.

Caveat - "bootlegged" versions of Nero are a B-- to rip-out (uninstall) by hand....and you will need to rip them out if they don't match the burner.
Have Fun

Subject: RE: Tech: How To burn a CD from a MP3 file? From: Mark Clark Date: 30 Sep 02 - 08:30 PM I've had great luck burning CDs directly from MusicMatch. Just build a playlist from individual MP3 files and hit the CD button. Nothing to it. - Mark |

Subject: RE: Tech: How To ? From: Amos Date: 30 Sep 02 - 07:36 PM Roisin, your question isn't complete. You need to let us know what computer and what application you're using. Some programs let you just drag the sound file onto the CD-burining appllication. Some access the CD Burn function right from the OS. What are you running? A |
