Subject: The Cricketers, Greenwich - Reopens From: Dave Bryant Date: 02 Oct 02 - 06:28 AM The musicians session at "The Cricketers", Greenwich, UK reopened last night after it was closed down by the council for not having a PEL. The publican has now got a PEL for entertainment on two nights a week and it was back to business as usual. Linda and I could hear the music as we walked through Greenwich market and the pub was absolutely packed when we got there - recently when we looked in on a Tuesday night it was almost empty. The music was wonderful with a fine selection of instruments. There were also the usual chorus songs and shanties towards the end of the evening, and some excellent ales were available. If you're looking for a session in SE London on a Tuesday night to join in with, listen to, or to show any friends, visiters, or tourists what traditional music is all about - this is the venue. Congratulations and thanks to all who persevered to make sure that this session survived. |
